About six years ago, my wife and I were touring the Queen Mary. It was December, so it was the off-season and the ship was completely dead. We decided to check out the engine room. As we were exploring, we heard the usual creaks and groans—nothing too crazy.
As we headed up the escalator, we heard someone with tools behind us. We looked back and saw what looked like a maintenance worker heading our way, so we stepped aside to let him pass. After a few seconds, no one came by. We looked back, and nothing was there.
The hallway itself led directly to the escalators. Later, we went back to check if there was a room or something he could have ducked into, but there wasn’t. And if he had gone back into the exhibit, we would have heard him—it was very loud when you walked on the metal grates.
Nothing crazy or scary, just something unusual.
